Proper Food SFO launched in Terminal One in 2022 and has quickly become a favorite of SFO customers and employees!


The Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to lead our high-volume location in Terminal One. The Assistant Manager will be overseeing the daily functionality of Proper Food SFO T1 with the support of your General Manager and Director. The SFO team consists of 15 – 25 team members. As Assistant Manager, you will cultivate the culture for your team, and your management style will influence the flow of each business day. We are looking for someone is communicative, dependable, friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking to manage Proper Food SFO in Terminal One.


Proper Food SFO is open daily, and you will be required support on the floor during peak times/days and as needed with open availability. All our food is prepared and packed at an off-site Commissary and delivered daily to Proper Food SFO ready to grab and go! In store food prep includes prepping drip coffee, heating meals as requested and bagging items. As Assistant Manager, you will be a salaried employee and work based on the needs of the store.


Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily functionality of the store - inventory, breaks, labor, peak times, deliveries, cleaning & other to-dos
  • Maintain company & store culture
  • Train & develop team - provide and model customer service and food handling standards
  • Oversee work performance - administer feedback directly to team members & shift leads; Relay performance concerns to upper management for support.
  • Master seasonal menu - be a go to for ingredients, dietary restrictions and preferences
  • Order supplies & manage inventory
  • Actively adjusting store orders and staffing to maximize sales opportunities and minimize waste
  • Oversee accounting, cash handling, make weekly bank deposits
  • Implement and maintain food safety standards at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and function of store and its equipment
  • Foster good relationship with management, peers & team members
  • Be flexible - be able to cover shifts in case of employee absence
  • Be the boots on the ground, we expect our AGMs o do everything that Team Members & Shift Leads do!
  • Ability to push, pull, carry up to 30 pounds



Job requirements

Specifically, you must have:

  • 1+ years of retail/restaurant supervisory experience overseeing a team of 8+ employees
  • Food Manager Certification (we can provide on the job certification within 90 days of hire for the right candidate)
  • Open availability, we are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, 4am-11pm
